The Haryana government would hold a series of seminars and workshops across the state to commemorate the International Year of Fresh Water. The ministries of agriculture and irrigation hope it would create an awareness about water conservation and related issues.
The programme is christened as Jal Utsav and events in this regard in fact have already commenced. Also several programmes have already been held in many districts of the National Capital Region. The programmes included water conservation-related quiz for school children, photo and painting exhibitions etc.
Deputy commissioner, Gurgaon, Anurag Rastogi said that a seminar on developments in hydrological information system was organised in Gurgaon on March 25 when the chief minister OP Chautala addressed the industrialists of northern region chapter of the Confederation of Indian Industry(CII) in association of Water Conservation of Netherlands under the bilateral Indo-Dutch assistance agreement.
