USAID: USAID is the principal US agency giving foreign assistance with the purpose of expanding US foreign policy in the areas furthering democracy and free markets while improving the lives of the people in the developing world. Its emphasis is on promoting: economic growth, agriculture, trade, global health democracy, conflict prevention and humanitarian assistance. With these objectives, it aims at extending a helping hand to those people overseas struggling to make a better life, recover from a disaster or striving to live in a free and democratic world. Reflecting the priorities of the Government of India, USAID activities today help reduce poverty by improving health, mitigating environmental impact, promoting women's and children's equity, and fostering economic growth. Program resources concentrate on replicable interventions to achieve the greatest overall impact.
